There is no greater joy than to look into the eyes of a child as they hear the words, “Once upon a time...”
As Dad to three children, Stephen brings the understanding and wisdom of a parent to the storytelling circle.
His stories will entertain, teach and encourage. Subjects include folk tales, parables, mountain stories, Bible stories, scary tales, participation stories and songs. Programs can meet the needs
of any age or group and most occasions.
Whether it is in a small circle of children,
or a large audience, Stephen will reach across the empty space and touch the hearts of his audience.

Walk with us up the creek and over yonder to the old log cabin.
Sit a spell on the porch as Stephen Hollen tells Mountain Stories for all ages and occasions.
Celebrate the warm humor gathered from generations of mountain living. Listen to folk tales, Jack tales and mountain wisdom.
Hold your sides and laugh at ornery tales from the Liar’s Bench.
You’ll find yourself smiling and may even find a tear in your eye from the bittersweet memories of the simple way of life
lived by the folks of Eastern Kentucky.
If you’re not careful, you might learn a thing or two.
Sit back and close your eyes as Stephen spins yarns that open a magical door to a place where a mist rises from the valley and creeps up a hillside filled with dogwood and mountain laurel.
Look in on the lives of country cousins, kinfolk and neighbors
from up the branch.
