I LOVE all the stories, and your voice sounded just like what I imagined it would - rich, friendly and warm with the hint of good mountain flavor. The funny ones are wonderful and I laughed out loud each time I listened to
it But my favorites I think are -
just like when you write stories, the ones that evoke the mountains in your special way. I loved best Mice in the Walls and Story Dance - when you were talking about waking up to crisp mountain mornings and the smell of bacon and coffee.... and that image of mist 'creeping down the mountain' and the fire at night to the sound of tree frogs and quiet goodnights. So beautiful.
To me it is so real that it seems more like memory than hearing a description of a place I've never been. Thank you so much for letting me visit there through your stories and your familiar voice.
Best of success with it.
Sincerely,
Kathy

Stephen's Cousin Peanut is something else! His antics had me nearly rolling on the floor laughing. Cousin Peanut continues to wreak havoc in and around Beloved,
Kentucky. But to give the devil his due, Peanut has been responsible, either directly or indirectly, for a lot of today's pleasures and conveniences. (I had no idea till Stephen told me.) Now, the stories weren't one sided. Our storytelling friend told on himself too. Wait till you read about the deep-fried turkey escapade.
One of my favorite parts of the CD is his telling about the value and the role of storytelling in his family. I had the CD player set on repeat and every time it came to that part, I swan, if I didn't have to get tissues.

We had supper with your CD tonight and nearly spit food across the kitchen a time or two, laughing, not choking.
I especially loved the closing story. I had a place like that too, and the
dance will never be over for me, so great is it in my memory.
Will be loaning this tape to my daughter's family, for sure. Again, Thank YOU!
